Creative Designer

OVERVIEW 

The Graphic / Web Designer is responsible for creating design solutions that have a high visual impact. The role involves listening to clients and understanding their needs before making design decisions.

This position is full time salaried with benefits, including attendance at various industry-specific conferences and training events.

 

We are seeking a creative Graphic / Web Designer, skilled in digital and print design.

Creative projects will range from marketing collateral (including branding, logos, social media design, conference materials, icons, photography, html mailers and front-end designs for digital platforms) to pitch work (including pitch themes, pitch theatre, leave behind documents, literature, visual mock ups, image manipulation, videos, signage).

The position is suited to a designer with equal passion for print and digital media, who is keen to work in a dynamic and vibrant business. Someone who has a can-do attitude and who is eager to build a department and team around you.

You will be involved at all stages of the design process in both digital and print mediums and actively contribute to creative brainstorms with new design ideas. You will take responsibility for multiple tasks, projects and priorities to ensure they are all delivered on time and to the highest standard.

The role includes:

  • Meeting clients or account managers to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the project
  • Interpreting the client's business needs and developing a visual concept to suit their goals
  • Listening to clients and understanding their needs before making design decisions
  • Developing design briefs by gathering information and data through research
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts
  • Working with the development team to test implementation assumptions across multiple platforms
  • Working with the marketing team to produce graphics for in-house use
  • Working with project managers to estimate the time required to complete the work and providing quotes for clients
  • Using innovation to redefine a design brief within the constraints of cost and time
  • Presenting finalised ideas and concepts to clients or account managers
  • Working with a wide range of media, including photography and client brand materials
  • Proof-reading to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Contributing ideas and design artwork to the overall brief
  • Demonstrating illustrative skills with rough sketches
  • Working on layouts and art working pages ready for print

The successful applicant will report to the Account Manager and will need to be able to work both as part of a team and in a self sustaining environment. They should be able to methodically document their work if required but on a day-to-day basis would be expected to work in a fast paced environment.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Excellent Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign skills are essential
  • Excellent layout, colour and typography skills
  • Experience of both Print and Digital design essential
  • Experience of using video editing software
  • A genuine passion for all things design related with a relentless desire to push the boundaries and create great work.
